MENTAL DETOX
In the book Clean Mind, Clean Body: A 28-Day Plan for Physical, Mental, and Spiritual Self-Care, it details a 28 day detox for a clean mind & clean body. I was very intrigued by it and decided I was going to do this detox. In this blog & the 3 after this one, I will be writing about my experience for each week in detail. If this something that interests you, view the book here
Week 1 is a mental detox. It focuses on detoxing the mental head space to help gain the insight on how to feel & think intuitively. The author gives examples of breathing exercises and meditations. I did read the entire chapter to gain the clarity on how I would do this mental detox for myself. I am the type of person who will take instructions and change them to fit me. You can do that for yourself or follow her exact instructions. The top 3 things she tells you to do is create a sanctuary, balance your work life & tech life, and nurturing your relationships. My home and office are pretty much a sanctuary as I am very aware of feng shui & decluttering frequently. I found myself struggling with tech life and my phone is my kryptonite. By making myself aware I am trying to limit my phone use to be more productive. This will be a hard habit to break but I am confident I can do it.
I set feel good goals to affirm what I was wanting to get out of this cleanse. So far at the end of week 1 I have noticed a difference in my energy levels and feel more productive. I made I AM NOT BROKEN my mantra and used the song A Broken Wing by Martina McBride as inspiration.
Each day I started my day by making my bed as soon as I woke up to let my mind know it is time to start the day. I start my day by doing some stretching of my arms & legs to get my circulatory system moving. I don’t wake up stiff anymore since I purchased a firm mattress & have a charcoal neck pillow last year. My pillow has been my saving grace. It has an indentation for me to put my neck in as I sleep (either on my side or my back). I no longer wake up with headaches as well as neck or back pain.
I then do a round of pushups and a plank to get my body used to working out. I turn on meditation music and journal for 10 minutes. After journaling, I do a Tai Chi breathing exercise to tune into my body to log how I feel and than get ready for the day. The purpose of my day is letting go of my blockages & evolving spiritually.
Throughout the day I am constantly checking in with myself and listening to my body. Before I go to bed I do a deep belly breathing to center my solar plexus chakra. The purpose of my day was letting go of my blockages & evolving spiritually. I find myself sleeping better with minimum waking up in the middle of the night.
To sum up this week’s detox up, my intuition got stronger as well as my psychic gifts. Being in tune with my body made me more aware of my feelings, instincts, and thoughts. I found out that I am not my habits and I can change anything that is not working for me anytime that I choose.
Next week starts tomorrow for me (6/20 - the summer solstice) SPIRITUAL DETOX
